High quality, you don’t have to remove your phone case every time you use it!, March 31, 2015

    Verified Purchase(What’s this?)
I primarily use auxiliary cords for my the dash unit in my vehicle to listen to music, I’ve had terrible experiences with poorly made aux cables from gas stations or mall kiosks and always have the peril of the sound cutting in and out after several weeks of use. I couldn’t be happier with my iXCC AUX cable, it’s extremely durable and feels heavy/high quality. I would recommend spending the extra $1.00 and purchasing the 6 foot cable as you can use it as a dual purpose cable and not just in your car.

Most importantly! The iXCC AUX cable has gold-plated 3.5mm connectors so when I listen to pod casts or talk radio there’s no static background noise, there’s also a high quality gold plated metal “stopper” where the male connector meets the rubber part of the cable so I don’t have to remove my phone or iPad case every time I want to play my music (you know what I’m talking about!)

This 3.5mm auxiliary cable has been performing well with the several different situations I’ve used it in. The first being connecting my PS4 controller and my music headphones together.

The PS4 controllers are designed with an auxiliary port built into it, so one can plug any kind of ear buds or headset into it, and be able to listen to the audio through the ear pieces instead of the TV. I have a large Turtle Beach headset I use with it at times (with a built in microphone), however sometimes I just want to hear the audio and not also have a mic in my face. So instead I’ll plug in one of my earphone headsets to the controller, that are meant for music and not chatting.

The problem I run into is that these days the auxiliary cables that come with most sets of music headphones now all include a small mic built into the cable somewhere, so that people can answer their cell phone even with their headphones on. The mic then shows up on the PS4 online gaming lobbies, and people think you have a mic on and try and talk to you, even when it’s turned off. The only way I’ve found to fix this is to replace the auxiliary cable that comes with my headphones with one like this iXCC one, that’s made to be just the basic cable and void of any additional unwanted extras, like a built in microphone. This cable has been just what I needed to do this. It works great for using with a headset that you want to plug into a PS4 controller.

The second thing we’ve been using this cable quite a bit for is with my husband’s Android phone and our car. He likes to listen to music from apps like iHeartRadio on this phone, through the car’s speakers. One of our last auxiliary cables again had a built in mic we didn’t need. When I would use that cable myself with my iPhone and plug it into our car to listen to music through the car’s auxiliary port, it worked fine. But something about that built in mic on that cable would randomly stop the music playing on my husband’s Android phone and he’d have to restart it every 5 minutes while driving. I found him another cable thinking it might just be an issue with that specific one, but again the second cable had a built in mic and it kept triggering at random times and stop his music from playing. Now using this cable, that doesn’t happen at all.

We’re in the process of moving across the state and changing jobs and homes right now, so we have both been putting many hours on the road every week in the car. So he’s been using this cable constantly, and he’s not run into any problems like he has with our others.

The third use we’ve had for this is one of the more common uses, attaching a device to a speaker. Even when your speaker and device (smartphone, tablet, music player, etc) are Bluetooth, using the Bluetooth drains the battery pretty quickly. To get more hours of use from my phone or tablet, I will just hook them up to the speakers via this auxiliary cable instead of connecting through Bluetooth. It saves me draining my phone down quickly.

The description of the cable says it’s a tangle free design, and I fully agree. The cable is made in a way where it just doesn’t want to wrap around itself at all. The gold plated plugs on the end fit very snugly into each auxiliary port I have used them with. The cable is very thick, and is a much better quality than the 3.5mm cables you get free with some electronics. The cable on this one is twice as thick as some of the other cheap ones I have. This is a really nice auxiliary cable, and it works great for using it with everything from headphones to speakers.

I have several speakers and headphones that use an audio cable connection. I used the cable with one of the speakers and a headphone set, with connections to two different audio sources – an Android phone and a 7″ tablet. The cable performed flawlessly with each of those combinations. Connections with the 3.5mm plugs were secure with no wiggling loose even with some occasional light tension, and the connectors were small enough to slip through the openings in the cases on my phone and tablet. Audio quality was excellent, as was stereo channel separation. These are well made cables that should last for years.

One comment: The product description uses the words “flat design,” which appears to imply that the cable is flat like a ribbon. The cable is not flat, it’s round, as shown in the pictures.

The cable was provided to me for evaluation and review.
