    A fine speaker at $55, July 15, 2015

I must not know how to get a free speaker to test since the other 3 early reviewers avoided paying for this speaker. I had to buy it. The short version of my review is that this speaker is pretty much everything they say it is. For $55 it sounds good, excellent features and functionality, very good sound levels, and has Apple “family” styling and build quality. I can add that it is FAR better than built-in iPad 2 and iPhone 5s speakers. Most importantly I did many A-B comparisons with a Bose Soundlink II $300 speaker ($200 at Bose store). The Inateck lacked the sound depth, richness, and greater realism of the Bose but the Bose is far larger and weighs far more, not to mention $. The little Inateck did not sound lousy or weak or muddy or tinny. It held up well. But a Chevy ain’t a Mercedes either. If portability, price, and good sound compliment your mobile toys then buy with confidence. No buyers remorse here!

Cooler and LOUDER than I imagined. This is the best BT speaker I have seen yet, July 11, 2015

I have a few different Bluetooth speakers. I like the idea more and more, but I wasn’t really impressed with the sound levels. The first few I bought (or reviewed) were interesting as a novelty (a shower speaker, or one for a picnic or some place relatively quiet), but I found over time that they just didn’t offer the ear-bleeding volume I am used to with my home stereo, car radio, or even my old-fashioned Logitech speakers that plug into the back of my PC. I was offered the chance to review this speaker.and I said yes because the photo made it look like it might be larger than a tennis ball. I wanted something with some sound, but taking a chance on an unproven Bluetooth speaker was just not in my comfort zone. So, for me waiting paid off.

    THIS THING IS LOUD!

Holy crap, it makes some noise (clean – no buzz, feedback, or distortion). The sound is a solid mid-range; not anything you might get from a $600 Bose speaker, so not glass shattering top notes, or disemboweling base beats. It is a good “general use speaker” for any room in the house. One speaker will work nicely in the bedroom, living room, and since it is splash-proof (not “soak in water”-proof) it can go MUCH louder than you ever want in your shower, no matter how loud you sing. I really like it. It is ridiculously easy to operate, but the first time I plugged it into the charger the (power) button turned red (charging) and I kept hitting the Bluetooth button, and when nothing happened I thought it was broken. I credit the fine public education I enjoyed as a child. NOTE: The power button ALSO displays the battery/charging state. Once I turned it on my MacBook found it in seconds. I had just played some music through my laptop speakers, and I was naively hoping this speaker would be louder. It was 5 times as loud as my MacBook speakers, or about as loud as two-three iPhones. I actually walked outside to see if the neighbors could hear it (yes – it their windows were open).

Two of these would be great for a living room, but I can’t see anything that says they can be paired together or provide stereo channels. Nonetheless, this is a great speaker for the price range. One other thing I would like to add . . . Apple is the undisputed master of packaging. When you open up ANY Apple product it is like Christmas morning. Simple elegance. Inteck, at least with this speaker, has matched Apple step-for-step. The presentation of this, from box images and ad copy, to the inner box design, and even the speaker itself screams out high end luxury tech. The speaker actually looks better in person than it does in the mediocre “official Amazon product image.” If you give this as a gift, hide the price range, because it looks (and sounds) like it should cost $99-$129.

Oh, and the hand strap (not shown) is super-easy to install. I did that without reading the instructions. This is one of my favorite things to review all year. I got mine for free, but if I thought it sucked I would happily say so (because I don;t owe Inateck anything but my honest feedback). You won’t be disappointed with this purchase. It looks nice and comes with a faux leather bag, so you really can take it anywhere. As to the speakerphone part, that was a PitA (mostly iPhone issues). The speaker works. I played music on my phone and called myPhone from my roommate’s Android. The song stopped playing and her ringtone played (REALLY LOUD!). I answered and I could hear myself on her Galaxy Note speaker, so I found out through trial and error that it works. Siri does not seem to recognize this for speech input, but if I find out how to make that work I will update this review.

All in all a super speaker. Anyway, thanks for reading; hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions.
