I bought these to touch up loads of scratches on our floors. Most are white scratches on a dark wood. We have brazilian cherry floors so I wasn’t sure what color would match. It was nice to have a set of various colors so I could experiment in an inconspicuous area.

I tried the wax sticks and did not see any change in the scratches. The markers are just that -markers (and yes, you could use regular markers, but these provided several wood stain options and a hint as to which might match which surface.) The markers, therefore, did work to fill in my white/lighter scratches but work best under two conditions.
    1. fill in the scratch itself–trying to get as much of the marker as possible into the groove of the scratch
    2. Then proceeding to wipe most of it off again within next 20 secs so the marker does not leave a stain on the surface that did not have the scratch. (watch my video review for further demonstration of this)

I tried these markers also on a cherry topped table that was horribly covered with scratches. It did make the scratches far less obvious but the few times I left the marker to sit a little too long on the surface before wiping off, I have faint marker rings around the scratch. I found that the cherry marker was darker than the surface which was perfect for filling the scratches in, oddly, but leaves evidence of the marker if you don’t wipe it off the surrounding surface. This means you have to work a bit more slowly filling in a 2″ area and then proceeding to wipe it down before the marker dries.

These will not perform miracles, but they will certainly make blaring scratches far less noticeable. See pictures.

I bought these with low expectations. I’ve used the Minwax touch-up markers before and haven’t loved them. No matter what color I get, they never seem to match my woodwork exactly. I’m not sure what it is about these markers, but they seem to be a much, much closer match and better camouflage shallow scratches and the edges of my cabinet where the the edges have worn down and the finish is gone. I haven’t had an occasion to use the wax sticks yet, only the markers, so I will update when I do but so far I’m impressed.

Edit: I would definitely recommend testing these in a less visible area before doing the entire piece. These look fantastic on my cabinets but then I tried it on an Ethan Allen table and the results were less than stellar. Excess would also, for some reason, not rub off that piece so I can see an unsightly residue on either side of the scratch. Oddly, the pigment also didn’t seem to catch on the scratch itself. Bummer as I was most looking forward to using it on this piece.

This is a must-have for anyone that owns wood furniture. The markers are effective, but I haven’t had luck with the wax sticks due to flaking when using, but the felt tip markers are effective. I’ve touched up several small scrathes on both wood and vaneer pieces. The veneer pieces were less effective, but nonetheless reduced the visibility. The finer wood pieces were easier to blend in.
